From One Truck to a Trusted Team

In 2005, Alex Denison parked his work truck in the driveway of his Huntington Beach home, hung up the phone after his first independent service call, and thought: if I can just keep doing honest work, the rest will follow. That belief built everything you see today.

Before going out on his own, Alex spent nearly a decade as a factory-trained technician for Whirlpool. He traveled across Southern California repairing refrigerators, washers, dryers, and dishwashers under warranty — learning the engineering behind every model, every revision, every common failure point. He became the guy other techs called when they got stuck on a tricky diagnosis.

But factory work meant following a corporate playbook. Alex wanted something different. He wanted to look a homeowner in the eye and say, “Here’s exactly what’s wrong, here’s what it costs, and here’s whether I think it’s worth fixing.” No script. No upselling. Just straight talk.

So he launched Huntington Beach Appliance Repair with a cell phone, a set of hand tools, and a growing collection of parts in his garage. His wife, Laura, handled the bookkeeping in the evenings after putting the kids to bed, answering voicemails and scheduling appointments while Alex crawled behind refrigerators and wrestled with dryer drums during the day.

Word spread quickly. Huntington Beach is the kind of community where neighbors actually talk to each other — at the beach, at the Saturday farmers market on Main Street, at school pickup. When Alex fixed a dishwasher on Garfield Avenue and didn’t charge for a $3 part, that homeowner told four friends. When he talked a customer out of an expensive compressor replacement because the fridge wasn’t worth saving, that honesty earned referrals for years.

Growing the Team

By 2010, Alex couldn’t keep up alone. He brought on Marcus Reeves, a former Sears appliance tech with deep experience in Samsung and LG electronics. Marcus became our go-to specialist for modern refrigerators and front-load washers — the kind with digital control boards and sensors that intimidate a lot of repair shops.

A few years later, Diana Tran joined the team, bringing expertise in high-end European brands. Factory-trained on Sub-Zero, Miele, and Bosch systems, Diana handles our premium appliance calls and has earned a reputation among Huntington Beach homeowners with luxury kitchens.

Today, our crew of eight technicians covers Huntington Beach and all of Orange County — from Fountain Valley and Westminster to Newport Beach and Irvine. Every technician goes through the same hands-on training program Alex built, focused on accurate diagnostics, transparent pricing, and respect for your home.

The Rebrand

In 2023, we officially became Alex Appliance Repair. The name changed, but nothing else did. Same owner, same team, same commitment to getting it right the first time. We made the switch because our service area had grown well beyond Huntington Beach, and we wanted a name that reflected the personal accountability Alex brings to every job.
